Penal Codes and Imports

Penal codes feed the searchable charge picker and configured fine, point, or bond totals.

Download the CSV template from Legal Configuration. Columns are:

code,title,classification,applies_to,default_fine,default_points,sort_order

  • Codes remain strings, including 800.04, 316.271, SA-VC-101, and 18-2-51.
  • applies_to is ARREST, CITATION, or BOTH.
  • Zero and 0.00 are valid values.
  • Different offenses may share a statute code.

Every entry has its own internal ID; the visible code is not its database identity. Exact duplicates are rejected. Import errors identify the row, field, value, and reason. Mass Delete is for replacing the complete code set and requires confirmation.
